    Still rocking

    By Kate Thompson

The fifth generation (5G) iPod Nano is surprisingly tiny and light - and simply gorgeous. Almost fitting in my palm and supermodel-skinny, the new Nano is the epitome of Apple design principles: sleek, colourful, minimalist. The rounded sides, and glossy finish are a tactile and visual treat, though the gloss does show fingerprints in the light.

Looks aside, it's packed to overflowing with nifty tricks and extras. The screen is slightly longer than the 4G version. Flip the Nano on its side, and the screen automatically changes its orientation. There is also a built-in FM radio that is a nice addition, especially as you can pause and rewind live radio. It can be used without the earphones but the volume is limited and the sound somewhat tinny.

The headline grabbing addition is the video camera. This is located on the back, in a spot many are saying is awkward, but the video quality is reasonable for video intended primarily for the Web. It shoots to a resolution of 640 x 480, suitable for a quick podcast and Youtube.

The 5G Nano performs its primary function, personal music player, as well as ever. There is no imminent threat to Apple's domination of the market, and this little beauty underlines its supremacy.
