    Instant video flipping

    By Robert Quarshie

Unlike tiresomely loading phone cameras with hideous-quality videos, the Flip Video UltraHD camcorder makes straight-forward one-touch video recording a breeze - with great playback quality. Simple-to-use and affordable, it uses advanced video sharing technology for quick video capture, uploading and editing (add your own titles and soundtrack ).

This model (there are several) gives 120 minutes or 8 GB of DVD video quality in high definition (HD) even in low light. You can then, via a standard HDMI chord (supplied), watch your DVD quality recording (compressed to MP3 format) on HD or any TV or computer.

For a full HD (1 280 x 720 resolution) capturing device it's remarkably small (about the size of an old Nokia N70) with a 2 inch colour playback screen, built-in mic and speakers and comes in four colours.

Uploading videos is as easy as unlocking the built-in flip-out USB arm and plugging into your computer's USB port.

The integrated software allows the uploading of videos straight to Facebook, YouTube and other online video sharing sites. Flip Video even offers a free storage album on its website where you can upload your pictures.

Its rather bulky design makes it at times awkward to plug into your USB port. But the Flip Video's practicality is demonstrated by its auto-charging mechanism. Powered by two AA rechargeable batteries (included) it charges up via USB. When the 2½-hour battery usage time runs out, standard AA batteries can be used as back-ups.
