The Financial Mail will be publishing a new annual special print supplement called 100 Websites that Save You Time and Money on 13 August 2004.
The loose, 24-page booklet, will be published with the Financial Mail and distributed to its base of subscribers and sold through news agents.
The FM believes there is great reader interest in an easily accessible reference source for information on websites that can help them be more efficient. Since the burst of the IT bubble three years ago, little has been published about the exciting online tools that can really save you time and money.
The 100 websites will be selected through a survey of internet users. The FM in conjunction with outside researchers BlueRiverStone is conducting the research through this online survey. Respondents will be asked a variety of questions to generate scores, which collectively will determine that respondents generally save time and money by using certain websites.
The publication will include five award winners which will be chosen as the websites that received the highest scores based on interview subject’s responses.
The publication will then include brief descriptions of the next 75 websites. They will be divided into the following categories:
Financial services Retail store services Travel and transport services (airlines, hotels) Health services Web tools (software, listserves, search engines, portals, ISPs, etc.) Research services Media Citizen services (local and national government, government agencies and justice departments) Trade services (auction websites, e-market places, price comparing)
Finally the publication will include brief descriptions of the 20 “FM choice” websites which will be more obscure websites that survey respondents did not include, but FM staff believe are potentially big time savers.
