Social investment showcase

The Shuttleworth Foundation is once again putting together a shopping experience for companies whose corporate social investment manifesto includes education in maths, science, entrepreneurship and technology.

In conjunction with PetroSA, the Innovation Bazaar provides a platform for funders to interact with a group of vetted, relevant projects seeking funding.

Funders act like "buyers" browsing through stalls where selected fund-seekers act like "sellers", showcasing their projects in the hope of securing funding. The projects on show are checked out by the foundation. They have budgets, plans and reporting strategies in place and are set to begin in 2005.

Last year, the first year of the bazaar, 10 projects from the Western Cape were shown and all of them were snapped up. The foundation hopes to have 30 projects from the Western Cape and Gauteng on show at this year's event, to be held in Johannesburg on September 6.
