The women featured in this publication have been selected on the basis of the contributions they have made to SA's public and private sectors.

This special edition has been compiled as a tribute to the leading women in the country, as well as those in the past century who battled against prejudice and paved the way for today's success stories.

It is a depressing reality is that if the gini-coefficient index between black and white in SA is high, it is even higher between women occupying senior and influential positions, and their counterparts at the bottom of the food chain.

The challenge facing women in senior positions is to ensure that they use their influence for the betterment of all women to make success or failure an issue of the person and not his or her gender.
