    ATTAINING GOALS

    By Ethel Hazelhurst

Cida City Campus's soccer squad has less than two hours a week to practise its soccer skills. But last year in November the team scored three goals against the Morocco Swallows reserve team (who are professionals).

The star of the team is Isaac Pitso, a first-year student from the Free State, who has played for SA under-21. Pitso toured England, France and the US and scored three goals for SA in April this year.

He has been offered a contract with Newcastle United in the UK from 2003, with a starting salary of R50 000.

Pitso comes from a rural area and has been supported throughout his career by Cida, as his parents are dead.

Soccer isn't the only area in which Cida students show potential. They won eight out of nine sporting and cultural trophies in the 2001 Masakhane Games - for soccer, debating, chess, choir, drama, tennis, volleyball and cricket.
