    KPMG

    PARTNERING FOR THE FUTURE

    By Ethel Hazelhurst

Accountancy firm KPMG has committed itself to "an ongoing, sustainable, multimillion rand investment in Cida City Campus," says Carl Ballot, KPMG partner in charge of marketing. "As Cida's Platinum partner in the professional audit and business advisory services' sector, KPMG sees Cida as a major advance for our profession, and therefore our firm, our clients, our people and their communities."

Through its representation on Cida's strategic partnership board, KPMG will assist in developing Cida's strategy.

In addition to substantial cash resources, KPMG is investing many hours in lecturing and mentoring students, and a dedicated project manager, Lebitso Mokgatle, is supervising the activities undertaken by Cida and KPMG.

"The mentoring programme specifically aims to give students access to KPMG staff who will help them understand the theory and give them practical examples," says Mokgatle. "The role of a mentor is designed to provide students with a support mechanism in all aspects of their lives. KPMG will present lectures on information technology through its risk management practice and it will supplement PricewaterhouseCoopers' lectures in other accounting-related subjects, including auditing and tax."

Cida students will be able to take part in a holiday work programme with KPMG throughout their time at Cida.

KPMG will also offer Cida scholarships to pupils of KPMG-sponsored schools and to children of their own staff members who would otherwise not be able to afford to send their children to university. KPMG and Cida are initiating a variety of joint projects.
