    Corporate governance

    STRICT ADHERENCE TO LEGISLATION

    By Ethel Hazelhurst

    Corporate governance is at the top of the agenda for an organisation sponsored by SA's private sector and dependent on millions of dollars of donor aid for its survival.

    Cida City Campus complies with the requirements of several pieces of legislation.

    These include the:

    • Higher Education Act and the SA Qualifications Authority Act;

    • Companies Act as a Section 21 non-profit company;

    • Labour Relations Act; and

    • Occupational Health & Safety Act.

    Cida also complies with the requirements of the SA Revenue Services in terms of its Section 10 (1) f status and Section 18A tax exemption status.

    Cida's financial statements are audited annually by a professional accounting and auditing firm.

    The institution is governed by a board and its Group 12 Strategic Partnership Council, which includes the CEO of each Platinum partner company.

    In addition, it has an advisory board with an impressive membership, which assists the main board and the executive in a range of ways.
