There is another face to black economic empowerment (BEE) that is a far cry from the passive acquisition of stakes in matured businesses by a few politically connected individuals. Old friends Litha Nkombisa, Ciko Thomas, Zwai Nomkonwana and Mncedisi Mayekiso represent this aspect of BEE, which is made up of young and skilled black people who are active in the open market.
