Reliable and sustainable

By Tamara Oberholster

Chief information officer Pearl Munthali says that from an ICT perspective, the focus of Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) is on the integration and standardisation of technologies to ensure a seamless end-to-end passenger experience.

She says that the key technology imperatives for Prasa for the next three to five years are to ensure that the company has reliable, stable and sustainable technology.

"The technology capacity implemented during this period will ensure that Prasa has the longevity and modernisation it requires to sustain its business," says Munthali.

"Therefore the winning strategy for the organisation is to ensure that longevity and sustainability are not just a promise, but attainable goals. The careful planning and articulation of the enterprise architecture and formulation of appropriate resource models are critical in guaranteeing that the current ICT investment is for the long haul."
